Often we want more lighting in our homes but we do not want to use lights which create a glare or are too bright. We want something subtle we can use to spotlight a particular feature. A large fixture with a long cord is the last thing we want. A Led light rope may be just what you need in these circumstances.
Light ropes is what we call a variety of different accent lights which are created as a long tube. A light rope will usually have many half watt micro bulbs which are encased in a flexible resin tube. You can find tubes which are either clear or colored. Light ropes are rated for both interior and exterior use and put off a subtle accent lighting.
They can be found in both 12volt and 120 volt types. When of the major advantages of light ropes is that the small bulbs will not need to be replaced during the life of the light rope. Light ropes which are built right should last for approximately 35,000 hours. This will give you several years of use even if you use them each and every day.
The bulbs within a light rope will be spaced around an inch apart and produce about six watts per foot. It will take around ten feet of light rope to produce light equivalent to a 60 wall bulb. The tube will stay fairly cool to the touch and is not a fire hazard. You can put these lights just about anywhere. They can highlight your cabinets, shelves, and bookcases when used indoors.
They also do a wonderful job of lighting up dark cabinets, hallways, and closets. Some people like to hang them around doors and windows for a nice impact. You can also use them as safety lighting along a stairway or around stairs. Outside solar light ropes are great for putting around steps, decks, and paths for ambience and security.
